  • Wi-Fi is short for wireless fidelity -- used generically when referring of any type of 802.11 network, including 802.11b, 802.11a, and 802.11g.     You can use the Random WEP/WPA Key Generator to generate a random WEP or WPA key. Simply choose the desired key length using the drop-down menu, and one will be generated for you. The WEP/WPA Key Generator supports 64bit, 128bit, 152bit & 256bit WEP keys, and 160bit, 504bit WPA/WPA2 keys for maximum security. When the key is changed the prefix of sha1(key) function is automatically filled in the IV field. You still may change the IV. The feature is intended only for your convenience. Using the radio buttons under the Key input field, you can specify whether the entered key value should be interpreted as a plain text or a hexadecimal value. If we generate a 16-byte output (32 hex characters), we have a 128-bit key, and a 32-byte output (64 hex characters) will generate a 256-bit key. HKDF is used in TLS 1.3 for generating encryption.

For a 128 bit WEP network password, use 16 (hexadecimal) and the length to 13 characters. For a WPA 16, use 16 (hexadecimal) and the length to 64 characters.
