The New York City Center is a branch of Self-Realization Fellowship, a world-wide religious movement founded by Paramahansa Yogananda, the author of the spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi.

Located in the temple foyer, the Free Literature Table provides free literature about SRF and applications for the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons for home-study, in both English and Spanish. Information on special events is also available, as well as the Fullerton Temple Monthly Calendar and Announcements. If you want to know more about Self-Realization Fellowship, Paramahansa Yogananda, and his Kriya Yoga teachings, we recommend that you read his spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi, first published in 1946. You may want to explore the Self-Realization Fellowship International Headquarters Website and sign up for the weekly SRF Lessons, or read about the. A study group on 'The Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons' meets every Saturday from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm in the Little Chapel. The study group is open to Lessons Students only. Please bring your Lessons with you.

The purpose of Self-Realization Fellowship is to disseminate a knowledge of definite scientific techniques of yoga meditation for attaining direct personal experience of God.

As Paramahansa Yogananda has said,

Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.

Announcements & Special Events.

It is with great joy that we share with you the news that the NYC Center will be resuming Thursday evening services, beginning on July 29th. This will include the Meditation Service at 6:30 p.m. and the Inspirational Service at 7:00 p.m.

This past year has provided us with wonderful opportunities to gather together virtually for meditations, study classes, retreats, Convocation and other special events. And now, we warmly invite you to join us once more for in-person services.

In caring for your well-being, we have implemented some changes at the Center including:

Fellowship
  • Touch-free hand-sanitizer units available upon entry and at restroom locations
  • Upgraded cleaning and disinfection procedures
  • Creation of more space to allow for more distance between rows of chairs in the main chapel
  • Enhanced air filtration in our HVAC system
  • Offertory baskets not being passed during services (After the service there will be baskets available where you can place your donation gifts.)

Regarding the wearing of masks, per Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines:

  • Masks are optional for the vaccinated
  • Masks are required for the unvaccinated and partially vaccinated

Please note that we recommend that you continue to attend services online if you are immunocompromised or have a serious health condition.

If all goes well at our Thursday services, we plan to gradually reintroduce Sunday Services and other activities. It may be a while before we are able to resume Sunday School and Bookroom activities.

Paramahansa Yogananda Paramahansa Yogananda (1893–1952) is regarded as one of the most prominent spiritual leaders of our time. He is the author of Autobiography of a yogi, one of the best-selling spiritual classics. This beloved world teacher came to America from India in 1920 and was the first great yoga master that stayed in the West for a longer period of time (more than 30 years). He is now widely recognized as the father of yoga in the West. He founded Self-Realization Fellowship (1920) and Yogoda Satsanga Society, which carry on his spiritual heritage all over the world under the guidance of Brother Chidananda.
