Having sold 16.4 million units worldwide as of September 30, Monster Hunter World is by far Capcom’s most successful game of all time, and the Japanese publisher has been providing updated sales figures for the game on a pretty regular clip to showcase just how consistently well it has been selling over a prolonged period of time. However, while Capcom – who’ve had to deal with a large-scale leak in recent weeks – have been releasing total sales figures for the game, a new leak provides a breakdown of how well it has been selling across all the platforms it’s available on, with some surprising results.
As per leaked sales data shared by @AsteriskAmpers1 on Twitter, the action RPG has sold more on PC so far than it has on the PS4 (or on the Xbox One), which is a bit of a surprise, considering the fact that it launched on PC roughly half a year after it did on consoles. The game has sold over 5.7 million units on PC outside of Japan, while on PS4 it has sold over 5.5 million units. On Xbox One, the game has sold over 1.7 million units.
Welcome to a new world! Take on the role of a hunter and slay ferocious monsters in a living, breathing ecosystem where you can use the landscape and its diverse inhabitants to get the upper hand. Hunt alone or in co-op with up to three other players, and use materials collected from fallen foes to craft new gear and take on even bigger, badder beasts!! PS Vita; Film & Movies. It’s weird to think how Monster Hunter low key became Capcom’s top franchise in an instant. But as all Monster Hunter fans know, the game begins when the.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, meanwhile, has seen similar sales distribution. Though the expansion has sold better on PC in Europe, Asia, and North America, in Japan it has enjoyed far stronger sales on the PS4. Interestingly enough, in terms of revenue generated through microtransactions and DLC, the PS4 version comes out far ahead, have generated over $8 million as opposed to the $500k on PC.
Monster Hunter Rise releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch soon, and Capcom expects the exclusive to perform as well as Monster Hunter Worldhas, which should be a bit of a challenge for the game. That said, leaks have also suggested that the game will be headed to PC eventually, and given World’s strong performance on the platform, that wouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.
